Community Guidelines and Content Moderation Policy
The Sanctuary Covenant: protecting our private space
Sanctuary is a values-aligned haven rooted in modesty, peace (Sukun), and sisterhood. Every member agrees to uphold these standards. Violations result in automatic quarantine, post deletion, or permanent expulsion.
1. The Modesty Standard (*Haya*)
Sanctuary requires all visual media to reflect the principles of modesty:
- Attire: Revealing, sexually suggestive, or transparent clothing is prohibited. Cleavage, midriffs, and excessively tight or provocative displays are strictly disallowed.
- Dignity: Poses, gestures, or camera movements designed to hyper-sexualize the body are contrary to our platform's purpose and subject to immediate removal.
- Respectful environment: Content showcasing beauty routines, skincare, and styling must remain tasteful, instructional, and wholesome.
2. Non-Music Audio Policy
Sanctuary is a music-free digital space:
- Background music, commercial tracks, instrumental melodies, and copyrighted audio are prohibited.
- Spoken word, natural ambient sound, spoken poetry, vocal reflections, and educational commentary are warmly welcomed.
- Note: Uploading videos containing copyrighted or commercial music tracks will result in audio muting or post removal.
- Sanctuary's own sound library: the sounds you can attach to a post from the app's library are curated by us and are music-free: vocals, duff (frame drum) and other permissible (halal) audio.
3. Absolute prohibition of men and male impersonation
Sanctuary is exclusively reserved for women who were born female, as set out in our Terms of Service (section 2.2).
- Men are strictly prohibited from creating accounts, accessing feeds, or attempting verification.
- Any user attempting to facilitate access for a male, upload content depicting male forms in private settings, or falsify identity credentials will be permanently banned with zero appeal.
4. Zero harassment, bullying, or malicious behavior
We have zero tolerance for drama, slander (gheebah), malicious gossip, personal attacks, or aggressive behavior toward other members. This applies to messages too: a private message, and every photo in it, must follow every rule in these Guidelines.
5. The enforcement engine: 3-report quarantine kill-switch
To protect community safety rapidly:
- 1 User reporting: Every post has a menu (...) allowing any member to report it as Immodesty, Music, Harassment, Suspected male impersonator, or Spam/Scam. Questions, answers, comments, profiles and messages you receive can be reported too.
- 2 The 3-report rolling-hour kill-switch: If a single post accumulates three (3) reports from separate users within a rolling sixty (60) minute period, our automated kill-switch engages and the post is instantly removed from the public feed and quarantined. (A comment is hidden by the same rule. A profile is quarantined after enough separate reports within 24 hours.)
- 3 Human review: A member of our moderation team conducts an audit within 24 hours to determine if the post should be permanently deleted or restored.
- 4 User blocking: You can block any member at any time. Blocking removes that user's content from your experience entirely.
- 5 Messages: a reported message is not hidden automatically. Our team reads it and the messages around it and decides within 24 hours. You can block the sender at any time.
6. Questions and answers
Questions are where members ask each other about life: health, relationships and marriage, motherhood and family, work and money, faith, home and more. Every rule in these Guidelines applies to questions and answers.
- Answer with kindness and from experience. Share what helped you; do not shame, lecture or judge the person who asked.
- No dangerous advice. Answers about health are members' experiences, not medical advice. Do not tell anyone to stop treatment, skip a doctor, or do anything that could harm them. Answers that do can be reported as "Harmful or dangerous advice".
- Anonymous is not unaccountable. Asking or answering anonymously hides your name from other members, not from our moderation team.
- Never try to find out who asked. Do not guess, hint at or reveal who wrote an anonymous question or answer, in the app or anywhere else. Doing so is harassment (section 4).
- If someone is in danger: call 999, Samaritans on 116 123 (free, any time) or the National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247. Outside the UK, call your local emergency number. Health and relationships questions show this card.
